We congratulate Old Collegian, Emma Lyn Winkler (2017), who has been shortlisted for this year’s Artsthread Global Design Graduate Show in collaboration with Gucci. Her graduate exhibition, including large scale, collage-based paintings and an animation, has been selected as one of only five Australian fine art graduates. This work questions how to deal with grief and draws on fears, struggles with mental health conditions and experiences growing up.

Congratulations to our badminton teams who won the 2023 GSV Intermediate A, B, C and D Grade Badminton Premierships. A tremendous achievement across the board and a wonderful experience to be able to compete against other highly skilled teams representing various schools.

The Year 11 Patchwork committee engaged in a rigorous week-long design workshop aimed at contributing to the creation of the 2023 magazine. Anastasia, the Graphic Designer from PLC, skilfully led the group of enthusiastic students, teaching them the intricacies of professional design and formatting. The group was also fortunate enough to have guest Senior Illustrator and Designer, Danielle, who shared her wealth of knowledge in the local and international design space with the girls. Their hard work will culminate in the unveiling of the magazine at the end of Term 4.

During their inaugural competition, our STEM Team won the Tournament Of Minds (TOM) Honours Award. The Junior School girls were tasked with devising a prototype machine designed to facilitate the exploration of undiscovered creatures in the Amazon Rainforest. Their creation, the Boxy 6000, boasted an array of features including solar panels, a magnetic access mechanism, functional wheels and numerous other cutting-edge components.

We welcomed the new season with our wonderful annual Spring Concert showcasing the musical talents of our Junior School girls in the PAC. Ensembles included Voiceworks, String Orchestra, Intermediate Strings, Chamber Strings, Intermediate Band, Concert Band, L’Oiseau Lyre and Symphony Orchestra. Congratulations to all everyone on a truly special event as Term 3 comes to a close.

In afternoon filled with fun and excitement, the Junior Primary Concert was an absolute delight as our talented young dancers performed with energy and enthusiasm. The performances were a testament to the hard work and passion of our dancers. It was heart-warming to witness the proud smiles on the faces of both parents and performers alike.

This year’s ‘Waxworks’ event featured Year 10 girls along with some very obliging staff who dressed up and posed as wax models. Ken and Barbie made an appearance as well as other well-known characters from Genshin, Miraculous, Caroline and The Lorax. The occasion was not only enjoyable for all participants but also served as a valuable fundraising opportunity for Neno Girls' School.

In our most outstanding musical event of 2023, PLC’s Speech Night Gala Celebration at Hamer Hall was an incredible display of musical performance and artistic expression. Our PLC Community was delighted with the extraordinary talents of our senior girls including unforgettable performances from our Pipes and Drums Band, Wind Symphony, Vocalease, Senior Strings and String Orchestra, Melba Chorale and our outstanding Symphony Orchestra. The evening concluded with an engaging and enthusiastic tribute to Australian icon, John Farnham. Congratulations to everyone involved.

The biennial Early Learning Centre Art Exhibition was a wonderful occasion which brought the community together in celebration of the efforts, achievements and Artistic Expression of our young children. Their creative endeavours were showcased on the opening night and were available for viewing the following week to enable the community a chance to enjoy the artwork. One of the highlights was the auctioning of seven large canvases painted by the children, which raised a total of $3,687 for The Australian Childhood Foundation.

Our campus was filled with imagination during Book Week celebrations as girls transformed into their favourite characters including Snow White, the Mad Hatter, Mary Poppins, Mario and Luigi, Ash Barty and even B1 & B2. It was wonderful to see literature come to life with such colour, creativity and joy.

Today, Wyselaskie Hall was transformed into a giant treasure chest as the Junior School celebrated Father’s Day. In a record turn-out of over 400 girls, dads and our wonderful volunteer mums, we want to thank the outstanding team from the Friends of Junior School for creating such a spectacular event.

Wyselaskie Hall was filled with games, food and fun today as our Senior School fathers and daughters shared a wonderful Father’s Day event. There were sports-themed games and activities from darts to billiards that helped bring out the competitive streak of dads and girls alike.
