Our campus was filled with imagination during Book Week celebrations as girls transformed into their favourite characters including Snow White, the Mad Hatter, Mary Poppins, Mario and Luigi, Ash Barty and even B1 & B2. It was wonderful to see literature come to life with such colour, creativity and joy.

Today, Wyselaskie Hall was transformed into a giant treasure chest as the Junior School celebrated Father’s Day. In a record turn-out of over 400 girls, dads and our wonderful volunteer mums, we want to thank the outstanding team from the Friends of Junior School for creating such a spectacular event.

Wyselaskie Hall was filled with games, food and fun today as our Senior School fathers and daughters shared a wonderful Father’s Day event. There were sports-themed games and activities from darts to billiards that helped bring out the competitive streak of dads and girls alike.

We are delighted to share that Old Collegian Laura Foo (2013) is the grand final winner of this year’s Great Australian Bake Off. It has been a joy to watch her progress through the series and see her many wonderful and inspiring creations. Congratulations Laura!

As the new Sports, Aquatic and Fitness Centre (SAFC) takes shape, a group of girls were given a first-hand opportunity to tour the construction site. During this visit, ADCO Constructions delivered a presentation highlighting the role of women in the sector, along with various educational pathways and career avenues. The girls thoroughly enjoyed the tour and look forward to seeing the new centre come to life.

Old Collegians from the Class of 1993 had a wonderful reunion back at their old school. They enthusiastically greeted each other, laughed and chatted the whole afternoon away. The women toured the state-of- the-art buildings and were lucky to see a rehearsal in progress in the Performing Arts Centre. Many shared their memories of events in Wyselaskie Hall and other very familiar areas of the College. Boarders also enjoyed a very nostalgic tour of their old "home" and marvelled at the changes over the last 30 years.

Congratulations to OC Grace Brown on her outstanding 2nd place in the women's time trial at the UCI Cycling World Championships in Glasgow. Grace, who was pipped for first place by only 6 seconds, recently achieved 4th in the time trial at the 2023 Tour de France Femmes, 4th at the Tokyo Olympics and a Gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The 2023 Senior School Art Exhibition: Create the World for Good, featured a diverse collection of artworks crafted by our students from Years 7 to 12. The PLC community admired the artistic creations which encompassed a wide spectrum of techniques with the aim of envisioning and creating a world for good. This concept was woven together to align with the fresh PLC vision; to form empowered women of character who change the world for good. Congratulations to our exceptionally talented exhibiting students and their teachers for organising such a wonderful event.

Shruthi, in Year 9, participated in the National Final of the Rostrum Voice of Youth Speaking Competition. The event provides Senior School students with an opportunity to gain experience and confidence to express their views and communicate a message. Representing Victoria in the Junior Division, Shruthi also took part in two days of activities with finalists from across Australia. Her speech on the topic of ’Think Outside the Box’, was humorous, engaging and highly relevant to situations of conflict. Her impromptu was also outstanding.

Well done to the PLC debating team as they won the Monash Asian Studies Debating Competition. Jennifer, Shin Yi and Jenny each presented their case with poise and conviction as they advocated for the negative side of the topic, "That it is in the interest of Bangladesh to provide citizenship to Rohingya refugees". The competition attracted a total of 94 students representing 16 schools from Victoria and New South Wales and was held as part of Monash University's Open Day, which added to the excitement and energy of the event.

Congratulations to Eloise, Kelly, Yiduo and Aarabi who were the recipients of a Premier’s VCE Award for their outstanding academic results in 2022. Eloise was recognised for her top results in Australian History, Kelly for Chinese Second Language, Yiduo for Chinese Second Language Advanced and Aarabi for English. The entire PLC community is proud of our girls and would like to congratulate them on being the recipients of such a prestigious award.

Old Collegian, Dr Rebecca Deans (1989), has been awarded the 2023 NSW Woman of Excellence Award for her leadership of the surgery team during the historic first Australian uterine transplant. Dr Deans is not only internationally renowned in the field of paediatric and adolescent gynaecology, but she has also been instrumental in educating and empowering the next generation of female clinicians in her field. We congratulate Dr Deans on her groundbreaking achievements which have significantly advanced the landscape of Australian medicine.
