It was a tremendous result for our aerobics teams competing in Geelong over the weekend.

Our Senior Trio won gold and will be heading to the Nationals along with Team Dynamite!

Three girls also qualified for the Audition section - Alexandria, Emma and Heli.

Well done to those girls and to everyone who competed from Years 7 - 12.

A huge congratulations to PLC Old Collegian Kishwar Chowdhury (2000) for making this year's Grand Final of MasterChef Australia. 

Over the last 3 months she has been an inspiration to watch as she has brought her home cooking to the fore with recipes inspired by her Bangladeshi heritage. 

This included Bengali dishes of Hariyali chicken, Bengali Khichuri with Begun Bharta and Bengali Patties.

During the term break, the Grounds Team released a colony of fresh-water micro shrimp and clams into the PLC pond.

These new members of our school aquaculture have quickly acclimatised to their home and will become part of the regular feeding, exploration and learning cycle for the girls from the ELC through to the Senior School.

On Thursday on 24 June 2021, the Members of PLC (being the members of the College Council) approved the College’s updated Constitution (Memorandum and Articles of Association) following the introduction of new minimum standards required by the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) by 1 July 2021.

Last night we were thrilled to host the Driver Hockey Cup, the annual competition between our Old Collegians and the PLC Senior Hockey team that is named in honour of former teacher at PLC Mrs Janet Driver.

 It was a hard-fought match with some magnificent hockey plays and ended with another win for Team Old Collegians!

 Our thanks to the OC's who came back to keep the tradition alive and to the girls who gave it everything they had to try to beat them!

Another congratulations goes to a PLC OC in the Queen's birthday honours list - this time to Liz Gosper (Jones 1976).

Liz was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in recognition of her service to people with disability through sport.

She is the Director/Head Coach of Inclusive Sports Training and is dedicated to training kids and adults with intellectual disabilities in the sport.

Congratulations to OC Grace Brown (2010) in being selected for the Tokyo Olympics in the cycling Road Race and Individual Time Trials.

Her first race is on Sunday 25 July, 2pm AEST and we’ll be cheering her on in her debut as an Olympic athlete!

Lampas Society members and friends recently enjoyed lunch accompanied by a fascinating talk by OC and former School Captain Romy Faulkner (2006). Romy, a lawyer working until recently as an Advisor to the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva, spoke about her focuss on corporate engagement in humanitarian work, social entrepreneurship, climate and sustainability, human rights and governance issues. Congratulations to PLC’s Early Learning Centre!

Our Early Learning Centre has again been rated as EXCEEDING NATIONAL QUALITY STANDARDS under the National Quality Framework in all seven quality areas of the NQS.

The National Quality Standard (NQS) sets a national benchmark for the quality of children’s education and care services across Australia.

Implementation of the NQF is guided by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA)

Unable to visit Paris in person right now, Claudia and Georgia recently undertook a more local French experience with an audio walking tour in French on Melbourne.

Produced by The University of Melbourne and based on the ABC radio pod tour entitled Eat, drink, Melbourne, the girls discovered some fascinating and little-known facts about the city during their excursion.

Once they're able to travel to France again, we're sure that the girls might even suggest: De toute façon, Melbourne est mieux que Paris!
