Australian Boarding Schools Association (ABSA) National Boarding Week

This week is the Australian Boarding Schools Association (ABSA) National Boarding Week, dedicated to celebrating all things boarding. We are very proud to have over 80 boarders at PLC who come from all over Australia and the world to make up our diverse and vibrant boarding community. To commemorate, the girls brainstormed what they love about boarding and wrote their responses on paper hearts. They ranged from ‘I love boarding because it feels like a family here’ and ‘I love boarding because I have 80 sisters here’ to ‘I love boarding because there is unlimited Nutella’. The girls also enjoyed a surprise afternoon tea with Melbourne’s famous Gelato Messina and cupcakes. We honoured Social Justice Day, during which the Boarding House Committee collected sanitary products to donate to the Support Girls Australia charity. Our boarders also give back to the community in a number of ways within the day school, such as through the weekly social action collections, the Outlook Community Action Program and the Big Sister Little Sister Program. A number of our boarders also volunteer their own time in different capacities such as through St John Ambulance, the RSPCA, Red Cross and tutoring migrant children. We are very thankful for each of our boarders and we hope that they have felt extra special this week.
