Year 10 Bright Stars Week

This week the girls in Year 10 engaged in a very special Q & A session with two guest Old Collegian speakers – Catherine Phillips and Emily Cheung.  It was all part of our week-long Year 10 Bright Stars program at PLC.

This program assists girls in their transition to the senior years at PLC. Through a series of carefully considered and planned activities, the program aims to equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to support their long-term personal health and wellbeing, and maximise their academic potential.

Catherine Phillips (2009) spoke of her drafting to the newly formed AFL Women’s league and her diverse background in sports and academia.  Catherine is currently training and playing for Melbourne FC on evenings and weekends, whilst fully engaged as a mechanical engineer during the day.  She encouraged the girls to work hard, prioritise their passions and lead an active and balanced life at school and at home.

Emily Cheung (2002) spoke of how she turned her love of talking into a career within the media.  After founding her bespoke entertainment PR agency in 2012, Emily and her team now represent a number household-name musicians and artists.  She also spent time on the other side of the lens during her time on channel 7’s My Kitchen Rules, alongside her sister Carly (2000).  Emily touched on the importance of loving what we do for work and encouraged the students to turn their interests into careers.
