Foundation Day Assembly 2024

This week, we celebrated a significant milestone for the school as we commemorated Foundation Day, the day marking the founding of Presbyterian Ladies’ College on 15 February 1875 in East Melbourne.

As we reflect on the journey that began on this day, we're reminded of the strong roots upon which our school stands.

At the Foundation Day Assembly, we welcomed OC Laura Foo (Class of 2013), who shared her inspiring story.  She reminded us that our education forms the foundation of our long career and personal journey, empowering us to evolve and adapt in an ever-changing world.

Laura is a Management Consultant with Deloitte Digital who has blended a unique set of skills in both the corporate world and the creative sphere. She passionately describes herself as a strong customer advocate, storyteller and food creative. Going beyond her corporate endeavours, Laura has also earned the well-deserved title of Season 6 winner on Great Australian Bake Off.

During the assembly, Laura's words resonated deeply as she encouraged the students to embrace the uncertainties of life. She challenged them to explore their passions, reminding them that effort is the true catalyst for success, far outweighing talent.

In a world where careers and paths are constantly evolving, Laura urged the students to remain open-minded. Who knows what remarkable opportunities may arise, what new careers may emerge in the next decade?

So, as we celebrate our Foundation Day, let's honour the past, embrace the present, and eagerly anticipate the boundless possibilities that lie ahead as each day brings new opportunities for growth and learning.
