The VCE Class of 2017 girls once again achieved some of the absolute finest Year 12 results in Australia.

Of the 157 students who completed the VCE:

8% achieved an ATAR of 99.5+ placing them in the top .5% of Australia 
15% achieved an ATAR of 99+ placing them in the top 1% of Australia 
22% achieved an ATAR of 98+ placing them in the top 2% of Australia 
41% achieved an ATAR of 95+ placing them in the top 5% of Australia 
61% achieved an ATAR of 90+ placing them in the top 10% of Australia 


Congratulations to PLC's Chess Team for being crowned the Australian National Chess Champions for 2017!

Competing over the weekend in Sydney, PLC's this is the 3rd time that PLC has won the National Championship in the past 20 years and the first time Back to Back. The team are the 2016 National Champions as well.

Congratulations to all of the girls and Mr Mansell for this historic and record-breaking achievement!



The Class of 2017 completed their PLC journey today at an emotional and joyful Year 12 Leavers’ Assembly.

Congratulations to Cathy in Year 8 on being presented the award for first place in Victoria for the Australian Geography Competition.

She received her award from the Deputy Premier of Victoria, James Merlino at the annual Geography Teachers' Association of Victoria conference.


Congratulations to Cassandra in Year 8 for being selected to represent Australia as the only representative in her age group at the World Chess Youth Championships.

She will compete in Uruguay in the September school holidays and we wish her all the best at this event!



Congratulations to PLC's Track and Field team for winning this year's Division 2 Athletics Championship.

There were some outstanding team and individual performances by the girls which contributed to that 1st place finish.

Well done to everyone who competed and to all the staff who helped out with the event.


It was a wonderful luncheon on Saturday as the College hosted the 60-years on Old Collegian reunion.

This annual event celebrates the return to the school of those Old Collegians who graduated from PLC 60 years ago and even longer.

This year's 'oldest' Old Collegian, Lesley Falloon, is 96 and graduated from PLC in 1937. She celebrated her 80th year since leaving PLC - an amazing achievement.

Former Principal of PLC Miss Joan Montgomery was in attendance, as was Mrs Elaine Collin and many past and present Presidents of the Old Collegians' Association.


News in from Victoria Bartlett from the Class of 2009 as she was formally inducted into the Class of 2021, Yale University School of Medicine. 

Congratulations to Victoria and we wish her all the best with an exciting career ahead of her at this very prestigious hub of learning.






In Jully Scotch College hosted the joint Scotch and PLC production of the ever-popular musical - Kiss Me Kate!

Its a fun and hilarious musical, set in the 1940's and follows the story of the staging of the musical production of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, by the leading star, his ex-wife and their co-stars.

First staged in 1948, it features well-know songs by Cole Porter including 'Too Darn Hot' and and 'So In Love'.

Over the weekend of 5 and 6 August, Karen Guest (Beasley 1992) competed in the (GKR) World Karate Championships held in the Gold Coast.  

GKR is a traditional Japanese style of karate which is taught in a non-contact environment and promotes both character and physical development.  GKR promotes self-defence, fitness, coordination, discipline, confidence and stress relief.  

Karen won BRONZE in her event - an outstanding achievement.


Over the weekend of 29 and 30 July, Charlotte in Year 7 competed in the 2017 International Open Judo Championship held in Auckland, New Zealand.  

Charlotte won GOLD in the Senior Girls Under 15 Weight Division (in her weight category, middleweight) from sixteen competitors.

Charlotte also entered the Senior Girls Open Weight Division where she won Silver from thirty competitors.  

The competition attracted competitors from New Zealand, French Polynesia, Caledonia, South Korea, Hong Kong and Germany and was the largest in the region.


Over the last weekend in July, both the PLC Senior and Intermediate Saturday Netball squads WON their respective Grand Finals - a first for PLC for both teams!

Plc's Senior Team - PLC Force - were also unbeaten for the entire season - another first and a truly remarkable achievement given the fierce competition in the league.

We would like to congratulate all the girls involved and their coaches - who are PLC Old Collegians and previous netball champions.
