PLC Student Becomes the 2018 Australian Girl's Chess Champion!

Following on from PLC’s exciting win at the 2017 National School Chess Championships, we have further great news from the Australian Junior Chess Championships that took place last month.

The championships were held over 5 days with girls playing 8 rounds of chess (with some games lasting three hours or more) and attracted over 400 of the best juniors from around Australia.

Congratulations to Cassandra (Year 9) on winning the championship (U18) and being awarded the title of 2018 Australian Girls Champion!  Cassandra also competed in two other divisions and won both titles – U14G Lightning Championship and the U14G Problem Solving Championship.

Congratulations also to Jody (Year 10) for finishing runner up in the U18 Girls section; and to Jaimee, Rachel and Clarice for also putting in very strong performances in the U16 Girls section.
